The Department of Mathematics came into existence in 1986 along with the inception of the institution. Dedicated, experienced and energetic faculty of the Deparment impart invaluable information that may be used both in academic as well as professional life. At present, the Department has two Professors, one Associate Professor and eleven Assistant Professors. Of these, four faculty have completed their doctoral studies, four are pursuing their Ph.D and three more are in the process to register for doctoral studies. Compulsory courses in different streams of Mathematics are offered by the Department as required by the respective branches of Engineering up to fourth semester. All branches are offered three open electives by the Department in the VIII semester. The Department also caters the requirements of M.Tech. programs by offering courses on Applied Mathematics in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering branches. Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has recognized the Department as a Research centre. The department has more than 25 research publications in reputed national/international journals. Lattice theory, Ring theory and Graph theory are the thrust areas of research. Teaching faculty employ various innovative techniques to improve the comprehension and problem solving skills of students-providing consistent academic results.
