Construction Technology

The M.Tech in Construction Technology program was started in the year 2010, with an intake of 18 students. This inter-disciplinary programme is designed to suit the needs of students from India and other countries in the Afro-Asian region for undertaking professional responsibilities, demanding high proficiency in skills of application of latest technology, human resource management, project finance, business management, contracts management, project evaluation and appraisal, asset management, infrastructure management, financing, design, construction and operation and maintenance, with an objective to improve the economic, environmental and social sustainability of the infrastructure systems along with soft skills like MS Project, Primavera, BIMs etc. This programme provide opportunity to combine theory with practical experience and research work. The electives offered in the Programme allow engineers from different disciplines to select specialised project management subjects to enhance their subject knowledge in tune with careers of their choice. The curriculum has been reviewed from time to time to incorporate the latest advancements in Construction, Real Estate, Infrastructure, management skills and soft skills to build a strong competence in the diversified area. This programme also very much helpful for the graduates who wants to run family owned companies or to start their own business, companies or consultancy.

This programme provides opportunities for students to carryout internship, projects, research and skill development etc., anywhere in the globe of their choice. Experts and industries from both national and international levels like Geosmart International Pte.Ltd, Singapore, M/s Srishti Ventures and M/s Accretgeo etc., will provide teaching, training and placement assistance.

  • Students should be able to demonstrate a degree of mastery over the area as per the specialization of the program. The mastery should be at a level higher than the requirements in the appropriate bachelor program
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering and management principles and apply the same to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, manage projects efficiently in respective disciplines and multidisciplinary environments after consideration of economical and financial factors
  • Acquire professional and intellectual integrity, professional code of conduct, ethics of research and scholarship, consideration of the impact of research outcomes on professional practices and an understanding of responsibility to contribute to the community for sustainable development of society.
  • Communicate with the engineering community, and with society at large, regarding complex engineering activities confidently and effectively, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation by adhering to appropriate standards, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

The department is actively involved in consultancy of Civil Engineering structures. The major areas are structural design, determination of SBC, Mix design, third party inspection of different Civil Engineering structures etc. Students are actively participating in the design and analysis of structures.
