NitteDU has a zero-tolerance policy on ragging and any other form student bullying. Every student and his/her parent/guardian are required submit an affidavit confirming compliance to the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions. The University has an Anti-Ragging Committee chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) M S Moodithaya. NMAMIT which is an Off Campus Centre of NDU has a Anti Ragging Committees headed by the Principal

As per the order of the Hon. Supreme Court of India, ragging in any manner is considered a punishable criminal offence and is banned. Any student found indulging in ragging in whatever form, either directly or indirectly, shall be dealt with severely.

According to Karnataka Education Act, 1983 (Karnataka Act No.1 of 1995) Section 2 (29), “Ragging means causing, inducing, compelling or forcing a student, whether by way of a practical joke or otherwise, to perform any act that detracts from human dignity or violates his person or exposes him to ridicule, or to forebear from committing any lawful act, by intimidating, wrongfully restraining, wrongfully confining or injuring him or by using criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, injury or the use of criminal force”.
