Dr. Krishna Shenai earned his B. Tech. degree in electronics from IIT-Madras in 1979, MS degree in electrical engineering from The University of Maryland-College Park, MD in 1981 and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1986.
Dr. Shenai's pioneering research for nearly 40 years has made fundamental and seminal contributions in advancing solid-state energy and power systems technologies, and has provided foundation technologies for several commercial products that are netting multi-billion dollars of annual sales revenues. He has authored 3 books, 10 book chapters, and over 450 archived papers; supervised over three dozen graduate theses; edited 8 books; and, holds 13 issued U.S. patents. He is the recipient of numerous professional awards, edited several prestigious international journals and founded many premiere international conferences. Dr. Shenai is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of the American Physical Society, a Fellow of AAAS, a Fellow of IETE (India), a member of Serbian Academy of Engineers, a University Scholar of the University of Illinois, and an Editor of IEEE J. Electron Device Society (JEDS).
Following a successful and illustrious industrial and academic career in the United States for nearly 40 years, Dr. Shenai has returned to India to transform high-technology education and industrialize the country.
