1) Research Incentives

a) For publications, patents, books, book chapters, reviewer ship and sponsored projects:

The incentive will be given as lump sum amount once every year in the month of March. The policy adopted for the same is as follows:

Review of Papers




Review of papers in Journals (ABDC, Elsevier, spinger, Taylor & Francis, Wiley,Emerald)

300/paper reviewed


  1. Only full-time confirmed faculty members on regular service are eligible for claims.

  2. Only original publications coming under the categories of Review Article, Original paper short / Brief communications, case reports, Letters to the Editor, correspondence are eligible for evaluation

  3. Evaluation and award of incentive points to articles will be based on the list of journals available with Dean (R&D). The list is attached with this circular. Additionally, paper published in other Journals of Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, and Spinger Journal will also be considered for the award.

  4. For articles accepted for publication in journals with Impact factor more than 0.5(in the attached list), the print / publication fee charged by the journal will be reimbursed.

  5. Conference presentations, poster presentations, editorials in journals, publications in souvenirs, abstracts, hand – outs, chairing sessions / participating or being resource person at symposia, workshops, guest lecturing etc. are not eligible for any incentive points.

  6. Authors not from NMAMIT will not be awarded any incentive.

  7. All claims must be accompanied with latest Google scholar citation index report

  8. Full paper proceedings of periodically held National / International conference will be considered as publications provided they are listed in the attached list.

 b) To provide encouragement for faculty doing Ph.D:

Faculty members of all departments shall be given an allowance of Rs.2000 per month  on completing the PhD course work. Thr allowance is withdrawn on conferment of Ph.D or after 6 years from the date of preregistration/registration, whichever is earlier.

 c) Promotion to associate professor on submission of PhD thesis:

Faculty member of any department will be promoted as associate professor on submission of PhD thesis provided he satisfies other requirements as and when formulated

2) Requirement of publications

Every faculty member must publish atleast one research paper every year. For Shared publication, proportionate share is taken into consideration.

3) Funds for attending conference:

  1. Faculty members with a paper to be presented will be permitted to attend a conference

b) Any faculty member desirous of presenting a paper in India will be given 50% of registration fee and travel and accommodation, however they are allowed to attend maximum of two conferences in a year. However, in exceptional cases, for top quality conferences the faculty may be paid full amount

c) Faculty desirous of attending a conference outside India, will be advised to apply for travel funding from outside agency. Only if the agency supports part of the sojourn will the institute provide rest of the amount. However, they are allowed to attend conferences outside India once in three years. In exceptional cases, for merited papers accepted for presentation in reputed conferences, funding may be provided in its entirety.  In such cases, decision will be arrived at by the research advisory committee. 

4) Research funding:

  1. All faculty members are advised to apply for funding from external agency.

However, in deserving cases, some funding will be provided from the research budget. The merit of the proposal for funding will be decided by the research advisory committee and weaker departments will be given priority 

  1. Every requisition for research funding from the management beyond funding available under research budget will have to be scrutinized and approved by the research advisory before securing final approval of the management

c) Every year small funding will be set aside as seed money to be given young researchers to initiate research. The allotment will be carried out by the research advisory committee.

5) Research Internship for fast learners

Every year staff members who are pursuing PhD and research in general, take under their wings undergraduate students for research internship during summer vacation. The students are required to prepare research paper and may present them in conferences. In deserving cases, small funding may be provided for the purpose.

6) Full –Time Ph.D Programme:

Every year fulltime scholars will be taken to pursue Ph.D in the college under VTU, based on selection. Following policy will be adopted:

  1. Selected candidates will be paid a stipend of Rs 18000 per month during fist two years and Rs 20000 during the third year. In exceptional cases based on the recommendation of the guide, duration shall be extended by one year(during which Rs. 20000 will be paid per month)

  2. The candidate shall work as faculty for atleast three years from the date of conferment of Ph.D. He shall give an undertaking that effect.

  3. If the candidates wants withdraw from the course before the completion of first year, , he/she has to pay back all the stipend paid to him/her

7) Deputation of faculty to full –time Ph.D

  1. Wherever there is requirement, from such department, faculty shall be sent for full time Ph.D.

  2. Full salary is paid during the first three years, and shall be extended by an year in exceptional cases.

  3. Such faculty members will sign an undertaking to serve the Institution for a period of 5 years.

8) Financial support for patents:

Any faculty desirous of applying for Indian patent will be given full financial support. However, the license will be held jointly in the name of the inventor and the Institution.

9) Sabbatical for faculty

Faculty members can avail the facility of paid leave for a maximum period of 1 year for doing Ph.D or during Ph.D course. This facility shall apply only once during his/her Ph.D work. The HoDs shall recommend such applications on the basis of appropriate work load redistribution.
