The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, established in 1987, offers UG and PG programs. The Department offers the undergraduate programme of BTech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering with an intake of 120. The Department has well-qualified, passionate, dedicated faculty and has a well-connected alumni network. With the state-of-the art Laboratory in Power Electronics, Control Systems, Power Systems, Computers and High Voltage & Relay, which caters to the need of all the Electrical & Electronics Engineering students. With an excellent rapport and MoU with industries, the Department is organizes seminars, conferences and workshops on a regular basis to cope up with the recent trends in the technological field.

NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte provided Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering a premises in Research and Innovation Center to carry out research activities under Center for Design of Power Electronic Systems. The prime focus of the Center is to cultivate research habits amongst engineering students and also creates platform for students to have hassle free entry to the industries. The Center also provides consultancy to major players in the field of power electronics, EV and Automotive like Microchip Technology Inc., Hexmoto Controls Pvt. Ltd., Autoven Pvt. Ltd, CogVision and L&T Technology. The work involves design and implementation of motor control algorithm for permanent magnet synchronous motors, design and development of hardware for Battery Management Systems used in Electric Vehicle application, passive cell balance and battery parameter estimation. Following facilities are available in the Research centre.

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering is an established Research Centre under VTU Belagavi since the year 2007 offering Ph.D programmes both Part-Time and Full-Time. So far, eight candidates have completed Ph.D and eight candidates have registered for Ph.D under the centre. The department has three of the faculty members recognized as VTU approved Research Supervisors. From the year 2022-23 Ph.D. degree is awarded by Nitte University and Six Faculty Members recognized as research supervisors under Nitte Deemed to be university with diverse research background and exposure, who are dedicated in fulfilling the varied research aspirations of the prospective researchers. ELITES the student body of Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department provides opportunity for the students to build leadership qualities, team work, and personality development and exhibit professional and technical skills. It conducts invited talks, seminars, workshops and technical events which helps seeking suitable career. The Major events under ELITES are:
ELIXIR - A student project exhibition organized every year involving hobby projects and projects related to subjects build by the students of E&E. The expenditure for conducting ELXIR is sponsored by alumni of the Department and the event has become a major attraction in the college. Snapshots of 11th edition Elixir held on 27 and 28 November 2023. More than 100 projects built by all the students of the department were displayed and demonstrated.
Geomitra - A competition to enhance the mathematical and logical problem-solving skills of the students is conducted every year. Glimpses of Geomitra 2024, organized on 3 February 2024 at Sir. MV Block. The event saw enthusiastic participation of more than 250 students of the college.
E-Ruchi - A cooking without fire competition organized for the students to showcase their culinary skills
Fight of Racquets - Annual Badminton tournament conducted at the Sadananda Open-air auditorium
Ayudha Pooja - The festival is celebrated in the department with great fervor and joy on the auspicious day of Mahanavami.
